Facebook Mobile App Install Ads Campaign

We recommend to use Facebook SDK to track your campaign performance.
This article will guide you through how to set Facebook 'Mobile App Install' ads with adbrix.

*Requirement and SDK Installation
  a. adbrix SDK must be installed. Following the guide to install the SDK is required.Android / iOS
  b. Facebook App ID and App Secret key must be entered.
  c. Deep link must be set. (Refer to the following guide - [How to set Deeplink?])

*Analyzable Facebook Ads
  a. Mobile App Install Ads(MAIA)
   > Deep link is available when running Mobile App Install Ads(MAIA)
.

*Range of the Campaign Analysis [See More]
  a. 'Install' will be analyzed first. Clicks will not be aggregated.
  b. 'Install(by Channel)' is the stats based on 'Clicks' of Facebook report.
  c. After 'Install', all data will be analyzed same as other channels. (retention, purchase, etc.)


1. Checking the Facebook App ID and App Secret key

    a. Log-in to Facebook account with administrator or developer role.
    b. Go to https://developers.facebook.com
    c. Select 'My Apps' on the top-right corner (Creating 'My Apps' - Facebook MAIA Guidebook

       *Facebook updates their site frequently, so please note that screenshots we have uploaded may slightly differ from the actual Facebook menu

       
    d. Select the app you want to check
    e. Check the App ID and App Secret key in Dashboard
        - To check 
App Secret key, password of the account must be entered.
          (Click on 'Show' button, enter the password, and it can be checked
)
       

 

2. Facebook Setting

  a. Go to 'Tracking Link > Media Setting > Facebook Media Settings'.
         

   b. Input the Facebook App ID and App Secret key

       


3. Facebook Tracking Link

   a. Go to Tracking Link > Add Tracking Link menu, and select Facebook channel.
   b. Deep link must be set to run Facebook campaign. [Guide on setting Deep links - [How to set Deeplink?]]
   c. Required data are the followings. They are necessary to run Facebook campaign.

      - Mobile Web URL : In case of deep link failed, enter the alternative URL. Recommend to enter the app market address.
      - Scheme : Enter Scheme value used when setting deep link.
      - Path : Enter the deep link path value used when setting deep link. We recommend to enter the path value right after activating the app.
        *Deep links are usually in myappscheme://appstart(these values are examples) form.
         In
Scheme field, enter myappscheme value on the left side of ://, 
         and in Path field, enter appstart value on the right side of ://. Do not enter ://. 

        *Enter 'default' in Path field, if you only need to activate the app by deep linking.



4. Setting and Testing Facebook Ads

Follow the following steps to test the tracking link for Facebook ads issued in above steps.
Even it is not yet uploaded on the market, testing is still available.


A. Certify adbrix Tracking Link

Use Facebook Debugger Tool to certify that the issued tracking link is not broken. 

a. Input the adbrix tracking link in 'Input URL', and click on 'Debug' button.


b. If 200 is shown for Response Code, it is in working order.          


c. Click on "Fetch new scrape information" button to save the URL. If entered URL is changed, click again to save it.



B. Test on Deep Link

Follow the following steps to test whether the adbrix tracking link with app deep link set in Facebook ad is in working order.


a. Go to Facebook App Ads Helper

Go to app-apds-helper for this test. [Facebook App-Ads-Helper]


b. Select the app to run the ad

* If the app is not registered in Facebook, you cannot proceed any further.


c. Click on 'Test Deep Link' button to set the deep link test ad.


d. Delete the campaign app from the test device.

The campaign app must be deleted before the test push is sent, to proceed with the test normally.


e. Send the test deep link

Input the adbrix tracking link in the popup window, check "Send Deferred", then click on "Send to Android" or "Send to iOS".



f. The deep link test push/notification message will be sent to Android/iOS Facebook app logged-in with the same Facebook account.

g. Ignore the test push/notification message(It doesn't have to be touched on), install and execute the campaign app.

h. Check whether it is landing properly to the deep linking page when executed.


C. Test on Deep Link Landing
Follow the following steps to check whether the deep link is landing properly to selected page in Facebook app.

a. Post issued tracking link on the Facebook timeline. Posting with 'Only Me' is also fine.

b. Touch the link in post and check the landing page.

 b-1. If you installed the campaign app - Check whether it is landing properly to the right deep link page after executing the app.

 b-2. If you didn't install the campaign app - Check whether it is landing to the alternative URL, which is market URL set in tracking link.

D. Settings on Facebook Ads

After passing the all the deep link tests above,
create campaign on Facebook and input adbrix tracking link in deep link field to finish the campaign setting.


E. Additional Check Point - Facebook Application Security
There is a server IP whitelist "settings in settings > security" on Facebook for developers.
If there is any IP set in that field, please delete it.
